An opal doublet is made by carefully bonding a thin layer of precious Australian opal to a dark backing of ironstone, making it a more affordable option. 
This backing deepens the stone’s color and highlights the opal’s brilliant play-of-colour, giving it the striking depth and vibrance of a solid black opal.
Unlike synthetic or imitation opals, doublets are made using genuine natural opal, mined primarily from world-renowned Australian fields .
